April 26, 2021
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Due to the number of isolating staff and students at Peace Wapiti Academy, Alberta Education has authorized a temporary shift to at-home remote learning for Grades 9-12 students for the remainder of this week – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, April 27-29, 2021.
There will be no at-home remote learning on Friday, April 30 as it is a scheduled Professional Development Day for our staff.
Instruction for students will follow the practice established by their teachers during past shifts to at-home remote learning, with classes taking place online at the regularly scheduled times. Any student who needs to borrow a device, or requires additional support, should contact the school at (780) 513-9504 on Tuesday, April 27 to make arrangements for this temporary operational shift in learning.
At this point, we expect that in-school learning will resume on Monday, May 3. If anything changes between now and then, we will communicate any new information to all affected families.
Please remember that students who were identified as close contacts of previous cases cannot go out in public or leave your property until their isolation period has ended.
Please continue to monitor yourself/your child for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 listed in the attached Alberta Health Daily Checklists. As a reminder, if you/your child has any of the symptoms, please call Health Link at 811 or fill out the Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment found online at https://myhealth.alberta.ca/journey/covid-19/Pages/COVID-Self-Assessment.aspx, and stay at home/keep your child at home.
With the school placed under ‘outbreak’ status, we remind any close contacts who develop symptoms and need to book a COVID-19 test to quote “Case 2021-EI-3717” when booking a test online or by calling 811, to assist AHS in tracking where transmission may be occurring.
Thank you for your patience and support during this time.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Gerard,
Principal, Peace Wapiti Academy
